I’m not even sure who really finds my blog, which is further reason why I don’t use it for any updates. However, in doing some small site maintenance I wanted to post a short glimpse into the last few years of my career.
I was in the Bay Area for about 4 years before moving down to LA. I worked for a health tech startup that eventually got acquired by United Health. I worked for a promising athletic training startup. I worked for Code & Theory for a short stint but packed in a few notable (and fun) projects.
When I came down to LA I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had visited many times before and always loved the allure, mostly because of my childhood memories of 80s movies set with the LA backdrop. Although my move was for several reasons, I wound up taking a job at a small startup on the west side of LA. They were doing user Loyalty in apps at the time, and I saw a decent future for myself- namely a short one where I could exit and finally get paid after all the hard work in my career. As I would soon find out however, that wouldn’t happen.
I spent the better part of 9 months with my CTO and amazing small team of engineers rebuilding the product from the ground up. I learned alot about machine learning and data in the process. The product we have now at its core is dynamic and intelligent- focuses on user retention through user behavior, while keeping the loyalty feature. All in all I can’t complain, its been a busy few years, especially the last one. I don’t know when I’ll update again, but until then, I’m alive and well, and working my a$$ off.
Cheers
